U.S. Commerce Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

NEW YORK, NY, April 10, 2012 — For the fifth consecutive year, Oasis Spa & Salon has been selected for the 2012 Best of Woodinville Award in the Spa and Salon category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

The USCA “Best of Local Business” Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Stretching and Massage

Most everyone knows stretching is an integral part of an exercise routine but many are unaware of the beneficial roles that massage can play in both strength training and flexibility training.

Some benefits of massaging prior to performing stretches or strength training are increased blow flow, relaxation of the massaged muscles, and removal of metabolic waste. When massaging the muscles it helps warm up those muscles therefore increasing their blood flow and improving circulation. Muscles that are relaxed is particularly helpful when you are about to stretch because it can help relieve painful muscle cramps. With improvement of circulation and blood flow it helps remove waste products, such as lactic from the muscles. This is useful for relieving post-exercise soreness. Because of these benefits, you may plan to make massage more of a standard part of your stretching program.

Stretching is an essential part of muscle health as much as massage is. Three things that our muscles and body need to operate at its highest are strength, stamina, and flexibility. Strengthening the muscles helps prevent injuries and allows us to perform task with less chance of injury. Increasing stamina increases our level of energy and helps us function on a day to day basis without tiring and flexibility is defined as the ability to move our muscles and joints through their full range of motion. If you are not flexible you have a much higher risk of injury and chronic pain, especially low back pain. So how do we maintain flexibility? The answer of course is through proper stretching; a great way to do so is take stretching classes.

Stretching classes have become very popular. Once just a small part of any conditioning class, it has become unto its own. Yoga being one of those classes have become somewhat of a synonym to stretching exercise. Stretching and yoga yield a variety of benefits, including relief from chronic and acute conditions.

The benefits of combing stretching and massage include improving blood pressure and heart rate and are two wonderful techniques for improving muscle operation. It is our muscles that protect our vital organs and allow mobility. Taking care of your muscles, and your general welfare, through stretching only makes sense.
